'On the way to...' Art by Barthel Brussee & André Potters

The duo exhibition 'On the way to...' includes works by the Leiden painter Barthel Brussee and storytelling photographer Andre Potters from Voorschoten. In principle, their works can be viewed every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon from 12:00 to 16:00.
Barthel Brussee studied at the Art Academy in The Hague and is a versatile artist. Among other things, he likes to combine painting with cycling. For example, to Santiago de Compostella in Spain.
Along the way, Barthel makes piles of oil paint studies of what catches his eye. These impressions are worked out at home. His 'Bicycle paintings' are a breath of fresh air next to all the snapshots that are shared on the internet about being travelling. Barthel's style is characterized by its very own form of figuration.
Andre Potters is a sociotherapist at LUMC Curium and a photographer. For his series of photos 'Roads' he was inspired by the song 'Child of the Wind' by guitarist Bruce Cockburn:
"There's roads, and there's roads And they call. Can't you hear it? Roads of the earth And roads of the spirit.

The best roads of all Are the ones that aren't certain... One of those is were you'll find me. Till they drop the big curtain."
The works of Barthel and André in the Hooglandse Kamer invite you to reflect on what you see. Perhaps we will encounter something of our own along the way. For the current opening hours, see www.hooglandsekamer.nl.
