Day trip between Rhine and Amstelland

You sail to Oude Wetering via the Kagerplassen, a typical Dutch lake area in the middle of the Green Heart. There you turn on the Drecht. This river leads you through the backyard of the Kaag en Braassem region. You sail to Oude Wetering via the Kagerplassen, a typical Dutch lake area in the middle of the Green Heart. There you turn on the Drecht. This river leads you through the backyard of the Kaag en Braassem region. Via the Tolhuis lock complex, the boat arrives at the winding river Amstel, where you have a beautiful view over the Amstelland.

At the fork in the Amstel near Uithoorn, the road continues on the Kromme Mijdrecht. This area represents the typical Dutch peat landscape. You are constantly sailing above ground level. This provides surprising views. While you enjoy the beauty around you, an extensive lunch buffet from the chef is served. The Kromme Mijdrecht changes into the Grecht via the Woerdense Verlaatsluis. There are often high reed beds along this picturesque small river. That is why the view is always a surprise when you look through.

At Woerden you sail up the Oude Rijn towards Bodegraven, Alphen aan de Rijn and Leiderdorp. Cities, old and new industry and polders are now passing you by. The Old Rhine has become a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021. It used to be the northern frontier of the Roman Empire. At Leiderdorp you sail up the river Zijl. This short connecting river from Leiden to the Kaag leads you back home. You are a fantastic experience richer!
