Friday 10 February
Alexander Poesjkin (1799 - 1837)

In 2023, the Leiden Salon will program Russian, French, German and English poems set to music with the theme Poems.
Writing verses and setting the tone of these texts do not always go hand in hand. Poems are usually not written with the intention of setting them to music. But of one of Heinrich Heine's cycles of poems, a critic wrote: 'What a gold mine this collection of songs is for an inspired composer'.
