The perfect family holiday at Duinrell

The Duinrell amusement park offers amazing experiences for young and old. With no fewer than 40 amazing attractions, you’ll be spoilt for choice. You just have to decide: are you a speed demon, or do you prefer a quieter ride? 

If you’re still up for more fun when you leave the park, we recommend the Tiki Pool. With 21 unique water slides, it’s the biggest water park in the Benelux region. Which one will you ride first? The tallest, fastest, bendiest? Or will you ride in the dark or on an inflatable ring? There are slides to suit all the family!

Gain knowledge!

Take a spectacular 'journey through the human body' in CORPUS or take a ride in the old Steam train Katwijk Leiden. Find your way out of the steel maze in Museum Voorlinden or come face to face with T.rex Trix in Naturalis.

Climbing and clambering

This summer, why not discover one of the region’s many playgrounds? Visit Natuurspeeltuin Voorschoten to experience no fewer than five natural play worlds! You can swing in the trees, pick your own fruit or simply lie back and relax in a hammock. If you’re into science, you can discover the properties of water at Waterland Boerhaave. 

How about spending a day at the seaside? Take your pick of the playgrounds in Katwijk  itself, or head over to Wassenaar to see what they have to offer. 

Active in the summer

Don’t waste the summer on the sofa! This Region of Surprises offers countless opportunities to get moving. Why not grab your swimsuit and head for the water? Learn to surf or paddleboard at Surfschool Katwijk, or explore the dunes by mountain bike.

If you’re looking for a unique way to explore the region, get yourself an e-chopper from Bizon Bike Company or E-wheels Katwijk and discover this lovely area.

Package deals

You can even select a package deal for your visit to the Region of Surprises. The Ibis hotel in Leiden offers the Surprising Leiden package, which includes both your stay at the hotel and an extra treat such as a ticket for a boat tour.

Routes

Explore the Region of Surprises on the most attractive routes: take the Poetry Route to experience Wassenaar town centre in poems, or learn all about the Pilgrim Fathers in Leiden on the Pilgrims walk.

If you’d rather explore the area by bike, Voorschoten’s Silver Route is 16 km long and includes the lovely Duivenvoorde Castle. The Limes Matilo cycling route will introduce you to even more culture at Matilo Archaeological Park.

Thanks to Opstep, you can now explore Leiden by scooter – the children will love it!
