On Wednesday 12 June, the annual Horse Market returns to Rijnsburg.

The Rijnsburg horse market has a rich history. Long before the war, annual horse trading took place along the Vliet river. After the war, this tradition disappeared due to a lack of horses, but shortly afterwards, the horse market was revived by some fellow villagers who felt that this cultural event should be preserved for Rijnsburg and its inhabitants.

Over the years, the horse market grew into an annual celebration, with additions such as a fun fair and a fair/annual market. The event has fame far beyond Rijnsburg and attracts (former) Rijnsburgers from all over the world.

Over the years, the Horse Fair Committee has been manned by a dedicated group of volunteers, with membership often being passed down from generation to generation.
