Sensory-friendly evening

Naturalis

Sensory-Friendly Evening (6:30 PM – 7:30 PM) for teenagers and adults (16+) with sensory processing challenges. No children, with adjusted lighting and a calm atmosphere.

A museum visit can be full of sensory stimuli, such as sounds, moving images, smells, or flashing lights. For people who become easily overwhelmed—due to autism or acquired brain injury—a regular museum visit can quickly become too much. That’s why Naturalis is hosting a sensory-friendly evening on September 10, 2025. This special event will have fewer visitors, and the lights and sounds will be adjusted to create a calmer environment.

On September 10, we are also organizing a sensory-friendly day for families.

What visitors can expect:

  • Adjusted lighting and sound levels

  • Calm routes and clear, easy-to-follow information

  • Spaces to take a break and relax

  • Inclusive communication and support from experienced staff
