Taptoe 'A ribbon of light'
On October 2nd, all scouting, sports, and cultural clubs from Leiden make their traditional parade through the city center. In a ‘ribbon of light’, the associations present themselves.
The associations compete for the Joppensz Awards. Each year, these awards are given to the associations that present themselves in the most creative way.
The Taptoe starts at Kaasmarkt. The associations follow this route: Pelikaanstraat – Haarlemmerstraat – Prinsessekade – Kort Rapenburg – Breestraat – Steenschuur – Van der Werfpark – Doezastraat – Jan van Houtkade – Geregracht, ending at the Jan van Hout monument.
