Series exhibition Limes: Gods, gems and luck
From 28 April to 15 September 2024, the series exhibition Gods, gems and luck can be seen at 12 locations along the Limes, including the Katwijk Museum, the former Roman frontier in South Holland.
In Roman times, gemmen (cut gems) were very popular items. They were used as signet rings, pendants or to seal letters. Local regional museums from Bodegraven to Katwijk (Katwijks Museum) and Voorburg, as well as the Archeon museum park in Alphen aan den Rijn and the National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden, are displaying gemmen for this national exhibition.
