The interior of a Almshouse

From 1611 to 1625, John Robinson, a minister, lived here with about twenty English families. Followers left for America in 1620 as Pilgrims.

The place was often referred to as the ‘English Gate’. In 1683, Jean Pesijn's widow, Marie de Lannoy, founded a Almhouse for elderly members of the Walloon Reformed Church.
