The current 'Veendermolen' is less than a century old and can be used to drain the Veenpolder. The first mill stood on this site in 1830, but was demolished in 1926.

After clearing away an apparently inadequate diesel pumping station that had been used in the meantime in the stump of the mill, the current 'Veendermolen' mill was built in 1934.

The mill was restored in 2000 and looks magnificent. The cap of the mill is covered with copper parts that were used in the construction of the spire of the church tower in Hoogmade.

Visits are by appointment only or when the mill is in operation.
