The 'Waterloosmolen' had two predecessors. First, there was a post mill that was not repaired after sustaining severe storm damage in 1775. It was replaced by a mill that was destroyed by fire on June 25, 1857.

The present-day mill was rebuilt on the foundations of the rear mill, which burned down in 1775, and the field walls of the post mill lie beneath the floor of the current mill.

This mill has been operated by the same family for a century. It is also featured on one of the summer stamps issued in 1963.

Visits are by appointment only or when the mill is in operation. The living quarters are private.
