Jeonghyun Choi Quartet with Jeonghyun Choi on piano, Seyeon Lee on double bass, Pablo Cruz Placer on tenor saxophone, and Dāvids Eglitis on drums.

Each month, Podium Jong Professionals Jazz (PJPJ) presents concerts featuring rising jazz talents from the Jazz Department of the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. This time, the spotlight is on the Jeonghyun Choi Quartet.

In an interview with PJPJ, Jeonghyun Choi explains that one of the main directions in his music is translating Spinoza’s philosophy into jazz. He says: “Spinoza’s philosophical exploration of human emotions inspires me when composing. I try to translate Spinoza’s insights into sound. Each piece reflects on a (personal) emotion and searches for its essence through the freedom of jazz.”
