Kaasboerderij Captein

Discover artisanal farmer’s cheese at Kaasboerderij Captein, located among the green meadows of the Weipoort. On this family farm, cheese has been made for generations using traditional methods, where craftsmanship and flavor take center stage.

Kaasboerderij Captein is located on the northern side of the Weipoort, in the middle of an expansive polder landscape where around 160 cows graze. On this family farm, farmer’s cheese has been produced for generations with great attention to tradition and craftsmanship. The climate, soil, and grass of the area give the cheese its unique and distinctive flavor.

The cheese is made using traditional methods, which require more time and effort but result in a richer taste. The cheese even takes shape in wooden molds and is handled using linen cloths from the cheese tub. This traditional process keeps the cheese warm for longer and contributes to its characteristic flavor. In the farm shop, you can taste the cheeses and experience this craftsmanship for yourself.
