Lakenvelder Farm Boterhuispolder
Lakenvelder Farm Boterhuispolder is a small-scale, sustainable breeding farm of traditional Dutch Lakenvelder cattle.
Part of the land is designated as a meadow bird reserve. That’s why agri-environmental management is applied, such as extensive grazing, delayed mowing, and rewetting parts of the polder. With visible results: during the breeding season, there’s a good chance of spotting a black-tailed godwit.
For those who eat meat, sustainable and local meat is a conscious choice—good for the breed, the environment, and of top quality.
The cattle graze in the meadows during summer and stay in the barn during winter. In winter, they are fed roughage from our own land, harvested in summer. The animals are slaughtered at a small-scale abattoir, and the meat is processed by a traditional butcher. Our farm shop sells both meat packages and individual cuts.
