The museum takes you back to the earliest life on Earth, the Netherlands during the Ice Age, and the primal forces of our planet. You'll discover the most surprising courtship tricks of plants and animals, come face to face with an African elephant, and discover the destructive power of volcanoes. You'll also have spectacular experiences: what does it feel like to travel back to the age of dinosaurs? Besides exhibitions, the new Naturalis also features workshop spaces for additional activities, sensational experiences, food and drink, and a shop. The striking building, with its many references to nature, invites everyone to step inside.

The stories in our museum are told through masterpieces from our collection of 42 million plants, animals, fossils, and stones. Our collection is among the top five in the world in terms of biodiversity. Our scientific research contributes to the conservation of nature's rich diversity. In the new museum, you can experience this firsthand, especially in the free LiveScience gallery; you can ask our scientists questions, have your natural find examined, and witness a live preparation.
